The Suns season is over.
Ishbia's investment and lavish project has failed and will not achieve any acclaim this year.
Even though Suns fans have enjoyed the prestige, their last highest point remains the painful loss to the Bucks in the finals just a few years ago.
Suns fans are eager to win and despite the club's poor standings, over ten thousand people have arrived for today's game.
In a back to back matchup against the Pelicans, the Suns are going to try and compensate for their loss yesterday in OT in a very competitive encounter. With the Pelicans resting CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson, getting a revenge win becomes much more obtainable.
The atmosphere in the Footprint center is excellent and the Suns fans remain warm and supportive of their club, team and players...regardless of their achievements.
Unfortunately, because of my friends being late (You know who you are!) I missed half of the first quarter waiting for them at the gate...while Bol Bol turned on his superpowers with great support from the fans, who love him...and pushed Phoenix to an early 14 point lead. A lead that was not lost, yet only grew...till the end of the game.
Many people take games like these for granted. Obviously, both clubs...and especially the Pelicans...dont have much to play for. Hence them resting their stars to savor them and deny any possibility of injury...yet for me the NBA experience is still fresh...and I consider every moment I can watch these athletes on the floor nothing short of a miracle.
The suns went on beating the Pelicans, in a cold, controlled and a bit quirky matchup. Both defenses were not at their best, with 29 turnovers in total for both teams. Making space for some nice dunks and alley-oop lob's...yet the quality of basketball did not arise to any peaks.
The largest margin brought Phoenix up by 26 points in the beginning of the 4'th quarter, when many local fans began going for the doors.
Season's end is creeping up, and besides next month's game against Houston...im not sure I will be able to catch anymore games this season.
There are strong rumors that the Suns will be trading out Durant during the summer, in an attempt to strenghten the squad...yet I am not sure how sending out your best player...will serve that interest. The suns need better big's and slashing stretch players that can space out the floor for their stars.
In his first season with the team, Mike Budenholzer will also need to step up and become and much more favorable and adorned with adherence amongst his players, that have not seemed to gel with him since seasons start.
Lets hope that Ishbia will continue to spend those big bucks on the Suns and hopefully push them into conterdership again...with the insight and lessons of this seasons failures.
Scored for PHX : Bol Bol 25 pts, N.Richards 19 pts 12 reb, R.O`Neale 18 pts, Durant and Booker 17 each.
For the Pelicans : Hawkins and Missi 24 pts each
